What is a lap of Losail International Circuit like?

Built in 2004 for MotoGP, Lusail is a fast, flowing 16-corner track where medium- and high-speed corners predominate; the slowest corner, Turn 6, is taken at roughly 95-100 km/h. Medium- and high-speed corners load the tyres heavily: for 2025 Pirelli limited each tyre set to 25 laps because of the track's energy, thermal stress and wear demands. The main straight is over a kilometre long and carries the circuit's single DRS zone, so Turn 1 is the main overtaking point. Before F1's return in 2023 the track was resurfaced and its kerbs revised, but the raised pyramid edges of the new kerbs damaged tyre sidewalls and forced an 18-lap limit per tyre set in the 2023 race; for 2024 the tips of the pyramid kerbs were rounded off at seven corners and gravel strips added beside some kerbs.
