What is a lap of Baku City Circuit like?

A Hermann Tilke street circuit of 6.003 km and 20 corners, the fourth-longest lap on the calendar, combining tight 90-degree street corners with the longest straight in Formula 1: about 2.2 km along Neftchilar Avenue into Turn 1, where cars brake from around 350 km/h. The castle section climbs uphill through Turns 8 to 10 between the medieval walls of the Old City and narrows to 7.6 m at the Turn 8/9 complex, the narrowest point of the circuit. Set-up is a compromise between downforce for the twisty corners and low drag for the straights; the main straight is a slipstreaming mecca and Turn 1 sees most of the overtaking. Two DRS zones were used in 2024 and 2025: on the main straight, activated 347 m after the final corner (Turn 20), and on the short straight after Turn 2.
