What is a lap of Autódromo do Estoril like?

Estoril was built in 1972 on a rocky plateau near Alcabideche, with noticeable elevation changes and a long start/finish straight fed by the Parabólica, a fast, long right-hander. Three right-handers open the lap, the third a hairpin, followed by the tight left-hand Curva VIP hairpin; the left-hand Parabólica Interior hairpin follows, then Orelha, the slow chicane and the Esses. From 1994 F1 used a very slow chicane in place of the fast Tanque corner, stretching the lap to 4.360 km; this layout was used for the last three Portuguese Grands Prix, 1994-1996. Estoril hosted the Portuguese Grand Prix from 1984 to 1996 and was the scene of Ayrton Senna's first F1 win in 1985; after F1 left, the first corners and the Parabólica were revised, giving today's 4.182 km lap.
