What is a lap of Yas Marina Circuit like?
The 2021 reconfiguration cut the lap from 21 to 16 corners and by 273 m to 5.281 km: the Turn 5-6 chicane was removed and the Turn 7 hairpin (now Turn 5) widened, the four 90-degree bends at Turns 11-14 were replaced by the single long banked Marsa Corner (now Turn 9), and the hotel-section corners (now Turns 12-15) were opened up. The lap is built around two long straights, each with a DRS zone: the first, about 1.2 km, runs from the Turn 5 hairpin to the Turn 6-7 chicane; the second ends at the banked left-hander of Marsa Corner (Turn 9), taken at around 240 km/h. The final sector twists around the marina and passes under the W Abu Dhabi - Yas Island hotel, with the track dropping downhill through the final right-hander; the pit lane exits through a tunnel under the track. The circuit is largely flat, with 10.7 m between its highest and lowest points (a crest at Turn 3), and the Grand Prix is a day-night race that starts in daylight and finishes under floodlights; it was the 2025 season finale.
