What is a lap of Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari like?

Imola runs anticlockwise and has an old-school feel: a relatively narrow lap with a 30-metre difference between its highest and lowest points. The lap is defined by the fast Tamburello and Villeneuve chicanes, the Tosa hairpin, the downhill plunge into Acque Minerali, the Variante Alta chicane and the double-left Rivazza that launches cars onto the pit straight. There is a single DRS zone, on the run from Rivazza to Tamburello, and overtaking is generally regarded as difficult; the pit lane is the longest on the calendar in terms of time lost, which makes a one-stop strategy the norm. After the 1994 tragedies the Tamburello and Villeneuve curves were turned into chicanes for 1995; the Variante Bassa chicane before the pits was removed in the 2007-08 rebuild, making the run from Rivazza to Tamburello flat out.
