What is a lap of Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya like?
For many years F1's pre-season testing venue, so the teams know it well; its mix of long, sweeping turns, quick corners and a twisty section, plus a main straight of just over 1 km, makes it a good indicator of the true pecking order. The long corners through Turns 3-4 and the fast, blind Campsa right-hander at Turn 9 are the key challenges, and the abrasive surface makes wear on the front-left tyre high. The slow Turn 14-15 chicane added in 2007 was removed for 2023, restoring the original flowing final sector and cutting the lap to 14 turns. Turn 1, at the end of the main straight, is by far the best overtaking spot; through 2025 a second DRS zone ran down the back straight into the La Caixa hairpin at Turn 10.
