What is a lap of Hungaroring like?
A narrow, twisty lap with few straights: the corners feed into each other so rhythm is key, and overtaking is difficult, with most moves made at the start of the lap into Turns 1 and 2. In 2003 the main straight was lengthened by roughly 200 m to 908 m and the Turn 1 hairpin tightened to help overtaking, taking the lap from 3.975 km to 4.381 km. Turn 4, a fast left-hander, is named after Nigel Mansell, who won the 1992 world title at the Hungaroring; Turn 11 had long been known to fans as 'Alesi' after Jean Alesi's crash there in practice in 1995. For the 40th Hungarian Grand Prix in 2026 all 14 corners received official names, including Piquet (Turn 1), Hamilton (Turn 2), Mansell (Turn 4), Alesi (Turn 11), Schumacher (Turn 12), Senna (Turn 13) and Szisz (Turn 14).

Where the winner started, every race at this circuit. Pole sitter means the driver who set the fastest qualifying time (first on the grid where no qualifying data exists); a grid penalty can move the pole sitter back, and that race still counts for them. Compare every circuit.
