What is a lap of Circuit Park Zandvoort like?
Zandvoort swoops through the sand dunes by the North Sea with a rollercoaster feel; the lap is narrow, undulating and hard to overtake on, and sand blown onto the surface by coastal winds reduces grip. The modernisation for F1's return added steep banking at Hugenholtzbocht (Turn 3) and the final Arie Luyendykbocht (Turn 14), whose 18 degrees is almost double the banking at Indianapolis; the final corner is taken flat out, turning the 678 m main straight into a flat-out run of about 1 km. Tarzanbocht at the end of the main straight is the likeliest overtaking spot, and Scheivlak (Turn 7) is a very fast right-hander over the top of a dune that cars enter with little or no braking. The circuit opened in 1948 with 1927 Le Mans winner Sammy Davis consulting on the layout; it held F1 races on and off until 1985, returned in 2021, and the 2025 race was the second-to-last before F1 left after 2026.
