What is a lap of Autodromo Nazionale di Monza like?

Cars are on full throttle for about 80% of the lap, which is broken only by three chicanes, the two Lesmo right-handers and the 180-degree Parabolica, so teams run their lowest-downforce configuration of the season; Max Verstappen's 2025 pole lap, at an average of 264.682 km/h, is the fastest lap in F1 history. With 11 turns Monza has the second-fewest corners on the calendar, behind only the Red Bull Ring; the lap is decided mainly by straight-line speed and by braking and traction at the chicanes. The Seconda Variante (Variante della Roggia) was created in the 1976 modifications; the two Lesmo corners were originally called Curva della Querce; the very slight left-hand bend after Lesmo 2, Curva del Serraglio, is not an official numbered corner. The Parabolica was renamed Curva Alboreto in honour of Michele Alboreto but is still widely called Parabolica; Curva Grande is officially Curva Biassono after the nearby town.
